Hi, I just this past week lost my brother, He was also my best friend. He has a son that plays guitar and I thought in my brother's honor I would build a guitar and give to my nephew. My brother was a big civil war buff, he liked collecting anything from the civil war that came from the southern states. He loved metal detecting, he would find old bullets, buttons from uniforms, belt buckles, he even had a confederate officers pistol that still had all the chambers loaded and was cocked and ready to fire. He would always tell the story of how the officer must have drawn his pistol to fire and was shot before he could pull the trigger, the pistol fell to the ground and thats where it layed until my brother unearth it. My brother was given a confederate soldiers buriel, in a cedar caskit with a rebel flag drapped over it. I thought I would use the confederate them for the guitar. What I need is a rosette for a "ooo" that has confederate flags in it. If anybody knows of anyone that can make one I would be more than happy to pay what ever it takes. Thanks, Red |

Paul Bordeaux, Craig Lavin, Harvey Leach, Bill Nichols, and a bunch of others. you might even be able to expand on your idea and show your brother's love of studying history, and his interest in the period. These guys can do some amazing stuff. I am also sorry for your loss. |

My heart goes out to you, too. I was thinking the same thing Brock suggested. I would contact one of the above guys. Instead of starting off with your flag motif, tell them more of the story and give them artistic freedom. It could turn out amazing. |

Red, I am very sorry for your loss as well. I really like James' suggestion. The inlay artists Brock suggests are all really great. Check out Bill Nichols statue of liberty inlay (I think it is on his website), it'll certainly give you a flavour for what he can do. |
